Frequently Asked Questions & Pricing

  • What clinical services do you offer?

I offer individual psychological therapy for adults, drawing on evidence-based modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and DBR (Deep Brain Reorienting), as well as EMDR & DBR intensive processing sessions for clients wanting a more concentrated, extended-format approach to trauma work. I also draw on attachment-based approaches, particularly around parenting, schemas and work within trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming frameworks throughout.

  • What can I expect in my first session?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and discuss what has brought you to therapy. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and there is no expectation to share anything before you're ready.

You are welcome to communicate in whatever way works best for you, and we can make adjustments to help you feel comfortable and supported. Together, we'll discuss what you would like from therapy and begin developing a plan that aligns with your needs, preferences, and values.

  • How will payments be processed?

Payments are processed the day prior to your appointment via Zanda an encrypted practice management software and Stripe which securely stores your card details for all payments.

Payments can also be made via bank transfer and online payments via invoices issued. Initial sessions require upfront payment to secure your appointment. It is your responsibility to ensure funds are available in your account prior to the consultation.

  • What is your availability?

I am available on Tuesday and Thursdays between 9am to 4pm. If you require services outside of these hours I can refer to colleagues who may better suit your needs.

  • Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

Self referrals are welcome allowing you to book an appointment directly (without a referral). However, a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP allows you to access Medicare rebates.

  • How much do sessions cost?

The current recommended fees by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) 2026-2027 is $340 per session. Fees vary depending on the length of each session:

    $300 - 50 minute session (general)

    $480 - 90 minute session (EMDR/DBR)

Yes, many private health funds cover psychology services. Please check with your provider about your eligibility. However, you will have to claim independently following the session.

  • How do I claim my Medicare rebate?

Your Medicare rebate is processed by the practice as a complimentary service following your payment, and you'll be provided with a receipt once it's submitted. Medicare typically deposits the rebate into your nominated bank account within 48-72 hours.

If there are any issues with your claim, it's your responsibility to follow up directly with Medicare.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

We kindly request at least 24-48 hours' notice for cancellations to ensure that waitlisted clients have the opportunity to be seen. We understand that sometimes unexpected situations arise, but please be aware of the following cancellation fees:

Less than 24 hours' notice or no-shows: Full session fee (100%) will apply.

Less than 48 hours' notice: A 50% fee will apply.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us manage our schedule effectively.

  • Do you offer telehealth (online) sessions?

Yes, we provide video and phone consultations for clients. Please notify as soon as possible to ensure you receive the Telehealth link in advance. This option is suitable for remote clients, if you have cold or flu symptoms or unable to attend in person due to personal or work commitments.

  • Do you provide therapy to children?

No, unfortunately I do not provide therapy to children only adults.

  • How long is your waitlist?

Waitlist times can range from 0 to 6 months, depending on availability. Please contact us for more detailed information, as wait times can vary throughout the year.

  • Do you share information with my GP?

If you’re using a Mental Health Care Plan, we provide brief progress updates to your GP or Psychiatrist as required.

  • Is my information confidential?

Yes, all sessions are private and confidential in accordance with the guidelines of AHPRA and the APS. However, there are some legal exceptions to confidentiality. These may include situations where there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, concerns about the safety of a child, or where records are required to be released under a court order or subpoena. If any limits to confidentiality arise, I will discuss them with you wherever possible.

  • Do you use Evidence-Based treatment?

Yes, I only use evidence-based approaches that have been proven effective in treating various mental health concerns. These may include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Schema Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), COS (Circle of Security) and other therapeutic models supported by research.

  • How do you provide treatment to best meet my needs?

Treatment looks different for everyone, so we start by talking through what's brought you to therapy and what you'd like to get out of it. From there, I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches — including EMDR, DBR, CBT, and Schema Therapy — and we adjust as we go based on what's working for you. Your goals and preferences shape the plan, not the other way around.

If you'd like to know more about any of these approaches or how they work, just ask — I'm happy to explain.

  • How are notes taken in the session?

With your consent, I use NovoNote, an AI scribe designed specifically for mental health practitioners, to assist with session documentation. During our session, NovoNote transcribes our conversation in real time and helps generate structured notes — this means I can stay present and engaged with you, rather than splitting my attention between you and writing notes.

NovoNote is built for clinical use: it complies with the Australian Privacy Principles, data is stored securely on Australian servers, and your information is never used to train AI models. The AI supports the organisation of your notes and treatment planning, but the clinical judgement, care, and decisions remain entirely mine — AI assists with documentation, it doesn't make decisions about your care.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, or would prefer notes to be taken without AI assistance, just let me know — I'm happy to accommodate that

  • Do you provide trauma-informed care?

Yes — trauma-informed care is central to how I work. This means I prioritise your sense of safety, choice, and control throughout therapy: you set the pace, you decide what to share and when, and nothing happens without your consent. Rather than asking you to revisit difficult experiences before you're ready, we build trust first and move at a pace that feels manageable for you.

In practice, this often includes approaches like EMDR and DBR, which are specifically designed to help process traumatic experiences without needing to recount every detail verbally. My focus is on helping you feel grounded and supported, not re-traumatised, as we work through what's brought you to therapy.

If you have questions about what trauma-informed care looks like in practice, I'm happy to talk it through before we begin.

  • Do you provide ADHD and Neurodiversity-affirming care?

Yes — I work with adults who are neurodivergent, including those with ADHD, and take a neurodivergent-affirming approach to care. Rather than focusing on 'fixing' or normalising, I support clients in understanding how their brain works, building on their existing strengths, and developing practical strategies for things like focus, organisation, and emotional regulation — in ways that fit how you naturally think and work, not a one-size-fits-all model.

If you have specific questions about ADHD or neurodivergent-affirming therapy, I'm happy to talk it through — just reach out.

  • Are you currently accepting new clients?

Yes, I am currently accepting new clients. Please reach out through the Contact Page for more information or to schedule an appointment.

  • Do you work with Men and Women?

Yes, I work with both men and women across a variety of issues, including stress, relationship challenges, trauma, and mental health concerns. My approach is tailored to each individual, recognizing that each person’s experience is unique. Whether you're seeking personal growth, emotional support, recovery from trauma or strategies for managing life's challenges, I provide a safe and supportive space for all clients.

  • Do you provide crisis care?

I do not provide crisis care, please contact Lifeline, consult your GP or present to your local hospital Emergency Department if you require any urgent care, crisis support or immediate intervention.

  • How much is the Medicare rebate, and can it increase?

With a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, the current Medicare rebate is approximately $98.95 per session, which is processed after you've paid the full consultation fee.

If your out-of-pocket costs across the year reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold, your rebate can increase to up to 80% of the fee paid for the remainder of that calendar year. Check with Medicare directly for your current threshold and how close you are to reaching it.

  • How many Medicare-rebated sessions am I eligible for?

With a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), you're eligible for a Medicare rebate on up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year.

If you have complex or chronic mental health needs, your GP may also be able to refer you under the Complex Care Plan (item 10968), which can entitle you to an additional 5 rebated sessions. Speak with your GP about whether you meet the criteria for this.

  • Do you provide bulk billing?

Bulk billing isn't available. However, if you have a Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate per session (see above for amounts and eligibility), and some private health insurance plans also cover psychology services.

If cost is a concern, I'm happy to refer you to alternative services that may better suit your budget.
